Patience Rewarded: The Quest for the Great Bittern

  We had heard the exciting news about a Great Bittern sighting in the Amalsad grassland. Eager to catch a glimpse of this elusive bird, we set out for the same spot the very next Sunday. Upon arrival, we found ourselves amidst a gathering of fellow birders who had been fortunate to spot the Bittern during the early morning hours, just before sunrise. Undeterred, we joined the search, scanning the area meticulously. Despite our efforts, the Bittern remained elusive, teasing us with its presence. As time passed, some of our fellow birders moved on to explore other areas, but we remained steadfast, determined to catch sight of the elusive bird. After hours of patient observation and tireless searching, our persistence finally paid off. Amidst the dense grasses of the wetland, we spotted the Great Bittern, its cryptic plumage blending seamlessly with its surroundings. Ranthambore National Park - a trip report

It’s our nine-year daughter’s wish to see a tiger in its natural habitat. From last couple of years, we visited Gir WLS in her term end March vacation. Now she wants change… we already saw Lion why don’t we go to see a tiger instead…? She demanded just like that And this is how we ended up to our Ranthambhore adventure….! We drove to Udaipur from Patan on 20 th March’17. We just enjoyed beauty of Lake City of Rajasthan. On next morning 5.30 am, we started our journey Udaipur to Sawai Madhopur. A road of Udaipur to Kota is very smooth six-lane state highway. However, road of Kota to Sawai Madhopur is in very poor condition, boring and tiresome throughout patchy and bumpy. We reached Sawai Madhopur at some time past 12 pm. We booked our room at “Tiger Home” get fresh in hurry, had a quick lunch and rushed to catch the noon safari. Nature's Symphony in Amalsad: A Day of Avian Marvels

Amalsad, a true haven for birdwatchers, offered a captivating display of avian life during our visit. At the break of dawn, we witnessed a mesmerizing sight - a cluster of Oriental Turtle-Doves elegantly perched atop the towering trees, their soft cooing harmonizing with the gentle breeze. Venturing into the grasslands, our attention was quickly drawn to the vibrant Red-whiskered Bulbul, its distinctive call resonating across the landscape as it flitted about, seemingly engaged in a ceaseless quest for hidden treasures.  Meanwhile, the Bronze-winged Jacana moved gracefully through the lush grass, herding its fluffy chicks for a foraging adventure.
