Common Snipe

Common Snipe is very shy birds. We see that birds many time but did not get opportunity  to click them. When this time of winter we visited the Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary, we see thee snipe foraging in shallow water of pond. They are busy in foraging so they are not aware of our presence. due to that we get chance to click and shoot there photo and video. Pied Cuckoo - a monsoon visitor..

Pied Cuckoo is a monsoon visitor to the India. In our campus we see many time Pied Cuckoo. Today morning while waiting for school bus for kid, we heard call of it and it was very nearby. It was seated very close to our backyard. We rush to home for camera. We took the few shot of Pied Cuckoo. All and sudden Pied Cuckoo take the jump and star forging. Pied Cuckoo catch the Painted Grasshopper which seen in good number at this time of season to campus. Then Pied Cuckoo clean the Grasshopper and gulp it in last. look how i get the name - Black-naped Monarch

We are luck this time of summer. During our visit to Vansda temperature is high and water hole are few so birds come to drink water at artificial water hole created by forest department. We saw many birds at water hole. But star of our show is Black-naped Monarch. We have click many time them but not this much close.  Few things about the Black-naped Monarch Black-naped Monarch is 16 cm long, slim and agile flycatcher. It get it name from blacj nap which found in male. It is mainly pale azure blue apart from a whitish lower belly. It has a black nape and a narrow black gorget. The female is duller and lacks the black markings. Its wings and back are grey-brown. There are total 23 subspecies of Black-naped Monarch. Vigors's sunbird - Male

Previously consider as Crimson Sunbird but    it does not have the central tail as elongated and is restricted in its distribution.
